Foundations of Professional Interpreting

The Foundations of Professional Interpreting is a 2-day, 16-hour workshop (8 hours/day) that provides individuals with the basic knowledge about principles and standards of interpreting in the health and human service fields established by the National Council for Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC).  In addition to learning the nine principles and thirty-two standards of practice for interpreting, the course covers topics of demographics, intercultural competence, communication, modes of interpreting, and roles of the professional interpreter.  This course is a prerequisite for the Foundations of Medical Interpreting and Skills Improvement workshops.  $300.00
