Unexpected gifts…
After living in a refugee camp for 16 years, Shukrani’s family received a gift: life in the United States. Shukrani’s heart was full. His family was safe, and he was thankful for the opportunities Greensboro held. Now he needed a job to support his family.
“The Community Center can help you,” a neighbor told him. His neighbor was right.
The next day, Ghaisha, an AmeriCorps member at the CNNC’s Legacy Crossing Community Center, met Shukrani. Having never looked for a job, she coached him. He was a quick study. He developed a resume, and recognized the skills and talents he can offer his new community. Through this resume, Shukrani realized his potential. A true gift.
Right now, Shukrani is using that resume, to search for a job where he can use his talents to give back.
Every day the CNNC is in the community helping people like Shukrani work toward self-sufficiency.
You can help people like Shukrani.
This giving season we are raising $5,000 to transform the lives of our newest neighbors.
