When moms gather together, blessings are shared.

It was quite the lunch. Roasted chicken next to taquitos, pumpkin pie alongside tres leches, green bean casserole sharing a plate with Mexican rice…

The company was just as varied. Young mothers with children in their laps, church ladies extending hospitality, volunteers playing peek-a-boo, and CNNC staff intermingled among the crowd – gathered as one, in the fellowship hall of the Church of the Covenant, eating and laughing together.

This was the CNNC’s Thriving at 3 annual Thanksgiving lunch.

After the meal, Krycya, the Director of the program, waved her hands, calling everyone together. “Vamos a compartir nuestras bendiciones – It’s time to share our blessings.” One by one, each mom shared her thankfulness.

Amigas, niños, familia, las voluntarias, la iglesia, and of course la comida –
friends, children, family, the volunteers, the church, and the food.

During the sharing, some moms smiled at each other from across the room while others squeezed hands. These Thriving at 3 moms have community.

“I love this group of women, I learn so much from them.” Marisela said as her two boys cuddled in her lap. “I am welcome here. I belong.”

Every day, the CNNC helps mothers like Marisela learn and grow. This is a blessing.
