Raleigh Bailey, Director, Center for New North Carolinians

UNCG Research congratulates the Center for New North Carolinians (CNNC) and its Director Dr. Raleigh Bailey on his $18,000 award from the City of High Point.  For the project “UPDATE of High Point,” Bailey and the CNNC will conduct a newcomer community survey on city issues.

Despite its significant growth, the North Carolina refugee and immigrant population still finds itself omitted from many city planning processes. Bailey’s survey will provide High Point with the missing immigrant and refugee input.  High Point will use that data as it updates zoning regulations in accordance with a new  Housing and Urban Development initiative.

Target populations include Latinos as well as newcomer refugees such as Africans, Bhutanese/Nepalese, Burmese, Iraqis, and Montagnards.
