Service Year & Service Site: 2011-12 with NC African Services Coalition

For me, joining the ACCESS program was a great decision I made. The program opened the opportunity to serve the refugee community and dive deep into understanding the global migration issue. The program impacted me to be exposed to workshops, conferences, trainings, and firsthand experience serving the refugee community. It helped me to grow in my professional life as a refugee service provider. The monthly training, meeting members, and sharing experience were most memorable. I encourage others to join AmeriCorps ACCESS program if you would like to pursue career in Refugee services. It’s a great program that gives you the opportunity to serve while getting the needed training that equips you for your future engagement.

Presently, I’m the executive director of the same site I was an AmeriCorps member.
