Jannifer was born and raised in Tampa, FL. She lived in West Virginia, Delaware, and Texas prior to migrating to North Carolina in 2013. Before pursuing a master’s degree in social work at UNCG, she worked in the pharmaceutical industry, as a certified pharmacy technician, for ten years. Jannifer has always had a dream to become fluent in the Spanish language and serve the Latino population. Therefore, she chose to serve as both an AmeriCorps member with the ACCESS program and an intern, for two years, with the Thriving at Three program. With the combination of this experience and her minor in Spanish, she is well on the way to proficiency in the language. In September 2017, Jannifer accepted the community coordinator position at Oakwood Forest Community working with a predominately Latino population. She is excited about the opportunity to work with the families there and looks forward to enriching and strengthening the community. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and animals, reading, walking, and piecing together jigsaw puzzles.
