Foundations of Professional Interpreting

The Foundations of Professional Interpreting is a 2-day, 16-hour virtual workshop (5 hours/day) that provides individuals with the basic knowledge about principles and standards of interpreting in the health and human service fields established by the National Council for Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC).  In addition to learning the nine principles and thirty-two standards of practice for interpreting, the course covers topics of demographics, intercultural competence, communication, modes of interpreting, and roles of the professional interpreter.  This course is a prerequisite for the Foundations of Medical Interpreting and Skills Improvement workshops.  $250.00

Foundations of Professional Interpreting – Skills Improvement

The Foundations of Professional Interpreting – Skills Improvement is a 2-day, 10-hour virtual workshop (5 hours/day) that provides individuals with the opportunity to review the principles and standards of interpreting in health and human services and explore challenging scenarios through interactive role plays, as well as providing helpful tips.  $125.00

Foundations of Medical Interpreting

The Foundations of Medical Interpreting is a 4-day, 20-hour virtual workshop that provides individuals with the basic knowledge and tips about interpreting in a variety of health care settings.  The course provides a review of the principles and standards of interpreting, as well roles of the interpreter.  The course covers topics of medical terminology, basic anatomy, overview of common diseases and treatments, interpreting in different medical settings (i.e., pediatrics, obstetrics, oncology, dentistry, end-of-life, etc.), and tools for the medical interpreter.  $250.00

Foundations of Mental Health Interpreting

The Foundations of Mental Health Interpreting is a 2-day, 10-hour virtual workshop that provides individuals with the basic knowledge and tips about interpreting in a variety of mental health settings.  The course provides a review of the principles and standards of interpreting, as well roles of the interpreter.  The course covers topics of mental health terminology, overview of common mental health illnesses and treatments, interpreting in different mental health settings (i.e., individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, etc.), and tools for the mental health interpreter.  $125.00

The Foundations of School Interpreting is a 1-day, 5-hour virtual workshop that provides individuals with the basic knowledge and tips about interpreting in school settings.  The course provides a review of the principles and standards of interpreting, as well roles of the interpreter.  The course covers topics of school terminology, interpreting in different school settings (i.e., IEP meetings, parent-teacher meetings, PTA meetings, etc.), and tools for the school interpreter.  $75.00
