Biographical Information

Touger Vang came to the United States at the age of eight years old, settling in Mobile, Alabama. From there, his family moved to Lansing, Michigan where he lived from 1983 to 1986. In 1986, his family relocated to North Carolina in search of work. Currently, Touger works for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the Bryan School of Business and Economics in the Office of Undergraduate Student Services.

Touger's interests and research focuses on Southeast Asian students and the dynamic of family structure in obtaining higher education. Currently, Touger serves as the advisor for the UNCG Asian Students Association and also has founded a group called the Hmong Students and Alumni Association of UNCG. Its main purpose is dedicated to enhancing educational goals for Hmong students by instilling traditional values. Touger hopes that these students will reference their heritage with a sense of pride that will help them to complete college with degrees that will better the Hmong community in North Carolina.
