Biographical Information
Maria Eugenia Moratto is no stranger to immigration, being an immigrant herself. She arrived in the US twenty-six years ago, pursuing a PhD in
Cultural Anthropology and Ethnic Studies and never thought that she
would not go back to live in her home country, Brazil.
She has lived in several states
and moved from Northern California to North Carolina two years ago,
following her son who is attending the North Carolina School of the
Arts. She presently teaches
Spanish at both UNCG and HPU and lives in High Point.
Maria collects degrees, having five of them. Throughout the years she has developed many research interests in
several areas with her favorite being ethnic identity. She also pursues research in the expressive culture of immigrant
populations, second language acquisition using Multiple Intelligences,
foreign language interpreters’ evaluation, and teaching foreign
languages using technology.
