Biographical Information
Lisa Kiang is an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest
University. She is a
developmental psychologist who earned her doctorate from the University
of Denver in 2004. Before
coming to Wake Forest, she spent two years as an NIMH Family Research
Consortium-IV postdoctoral fellow at UCLA.
Lisa's research interests center broadly on the intersection between
self and identity, social relationships, and culture. In particular, her work incorporates a positive approach to
development by identifying protective aspects of ethnic or cultural
identity. Although much of
her work has focused primarily on adolescents, she is currently
exploring issues of cultural socialization and early ethnic
understanding in younger cohort of children. Her target populations of interest are primarily Asian and Latin
American youth.
