Biographical Information
Jacob Henry is the principal of the Newcomers School in Guilford County. The school specifically targets newly arrived immigrant and
refugee children whose primary language is not English. Children attend the school for one year to help transition them
to the US school system. He
has previously served as the assistant principal at Jones Spanish
Immersion School, and has taught French in Guilford County for eight
years.
Jacob is currently a doctoral candidate in the Educational Leadership
and Cultural Foundations Department at UNCG. His research interests focus primarily on the refugee experience
in American schools. He is
especially interested in the initial transition to the public school
setting.
