Biographical Information

Noël Bridget Busch-Armendariz is an Associate Professor at the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin and the Director of the Institute on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Dr. Busch-Armendariz has more than fourteen years experience working to end violence against women and their children both locally and internationally. She regularly serves as an expert witness in criminal, civil, and immigration cases involving interpersonal violence. Dr. Busch-Armendariz first began working with refugees and immigrants in 1986 as an immigrant assistant and currently serves as the principle investigator of several projects looking at the needs of and services available for victims of human trafficking, refugees, and asylees. She is the author of several dozen peer reviewed articles and reports on these topics and serves as an editorial board member for AFFILIA: The Journal of Women and Social Work and the Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Studies.

Since joining UT in 2001, Dr. Busch-Armendariz has managed over $1.7 million dollars of external funding and 25 research projects. She is a licensed social worker and a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer. Her research interests include domestic violence and sexual assault, human trafficking, and international social work.
